Three Bible School Girls Killed as Myanmar Junta Bombs Christian School in Karen State

Three female Bible school students were killed on Tuesday 3 November 2026 when Myanmar junta fighter jets and armed drones bombed a Christian Bible school in Day Bu Noh village, Hpapun District, Karen State. A drone detonated over the girls' dormitory, killing two students instantly, while a third died on the way to a hospital in Thailand.
They had gone to school to study the Bible. They never came home. In a village where no fighting was taking place, the sky opened up at around 3 PM, and a place of prayer became a place of mourning in a matter of minutes.
Ten Bombs and Drones Over Day Bu Noh Village
The attack began in the afternoon, when fighter jets dropped more than ten bombs on and around the village. Armed drones followed, and one of them exploded directly above the Bible school dormitory where the girls were staying.
Between six and eight other people were injured in the strikes. The wounded were rushed for treatment and recieved care, and the third girl, badly hurt in the blast, died while being taken across the border to a hospital in Thailand.
There was no active fighting in the area at the time. That detail matters, because it strips away any claim that the school was caught in a battle. The village was quiet. The school was full of students. The bombs fell anyway.
The Bible school in Day Bu Noh is one of many small Christian schools across Karen State, where churches have long run their own education for young people. For families in the hills, these schools are more than classrooms. They are where their daughters learn Scripture and prepare for a life of service.
Christian Solidarity Worldwide: Outraged and Appalled
Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) reported the attack on 5 November, saying it was "outraged and appalled" by the killings. The group has tracked the Myanmar military's campaign against Christian communities for years, and this strike fits a pattern it knows all too well.
Myanmar's junta has repeatedly hit churches, schools and villages in Christian-majority areas since the 2021 coup, as reported in Myanmar Military Destroys Churches October 2026: Jets Bomb, Troops Burn. The same pattern has played out in the north, where the military destroyed churches in Chin and Kachin States, as covered in Myanmar Military Destroys Churches in Chin and Kachin States October 2026. Time and again, the targets are the same: the places where Christians gather, pray and learn.

A Child Killed Days Earlier in Menuhta Village
The Day Bu Noh bombing was not an isolated horror. Just nine days earlier, on 25 October, another junta airstrike hit Menuhta village and killed a child. The two attacks, days apart, show a military that keeps reaching for the same weapon against the same kind of target.
The girls who died in the dormitory had names, dreams and families who loved them. Their names have not been publicly released, and this article will not invent them. What is known is enough to grieve: three young women, studying the Bible far from home, killed in the place where they slept.
The Church in Karen State Keeps Standing
Christians in Karen State have endured decades of war, and the church there has learned to keep going through grief that would break most communities. Pastors bury the dead, comfort the families, and open the church doors again the next Sunday.
The same quiet courage runs through persecuted churches around the world. In Ethiopia, dozens of Orthodox Christians have been killed in a wave of attacks, as reported in 34 More Orthodox Christians Killed in Ethiopia, Toll 94, and in Nigeria, Christians have been seized in raids, as covered in Two Christians Killed, 18 Seized in Kaduna Raid.
For now, three families in Karen State are preparing funerals instead of celebrating their daughters' studies. The Bible school will reopen, because that is what these schools do. But three beds in the girls' dormitory will stay empty.

The question that hangs over Karen State tonight is a simple one: how many more schoolchildren must die before the bombing of Christian villages finally stops? The girls of Day Bu Noh deserved an answer in their lifetime. The world still owes them one.
