550 Baptised at Bridlington Beach: BibleLadUK Revival in the North Sea October 2026

Hundreds of people gathered on a cold grey English beach at the edge of the North Sea, with crowds on the sand seen from behind
Around 550 people were baptised in the North Sea at Bridlington Beach on October 10, 2026.

Five hundred and fifty people walked into the cold North Sea in a single day. They came from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and every corner of England, stood in a queue on a Yorkshire beach, and went under the water one by one while crowds on the sand and cliffs cheered them back out.

The baptisms took place at Bridlington Beach in East Yorkshire on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The organiser was Merlin Kraft, a Christian social media creator known online as BibleLadUK, who had simply put out an invitation online and watched the responses pour in.

By the end of the day, Kraft and his team counted around 550 baptisms. The figure was reported by CBN News and carried across Christian media, including Premier Christian News on October 12.

Kraft's own reaction, given on the shore, was disbelief. "God turned up today and so did the people of North England," he said, in words carried by CBN News. The next day he was still trying to take it in, saying his arm was absolutely killing him from baptising so many people.

The scale was hard to grasp, even for the man standing in the water. "Standing in that water, I couldn't see the scale of it at the time," Kraft said. "It wasn't until I watched the drone footage back." Only then did the size of the crowd on the beach become clear.

God turned up today and so did the people of North England.

Reports of the day describe hundreds waiting to enter the water, with crowds on the sand and cliffs above watching. A UTK Media film captured testimonies on the beach, including a man who credited God with saving his life after a serious brain injury.

For Kraft, the numbers were never the whole story. He told writer Ralph Turner that what struck him most was who was coming forward. Many were ordinary people who had not grown up in church or even attended one, and some had come from really difficult backgrounds.

"I've spoken to people whose lives have been completely turned around by Jesus Christ," Kraft said. "People who've struggled with addiction, people who've been at rock bottom, and others who have simply been searching for answers." Others had discovered Christianity through social media, started reading their Bibles at home, and come to faith that way.

BibleLadUK Merlin Kraft Beach Baptisms Bigbury-on-Sea 170

Bridlington was not the first beach. In September 2026, 170 people were baptised in the sea at Bigbury-on-Sea in Devon, after Kraft put out an online invitation and recieved 170 responses. People travelled from Scotland, Ireland, and Wales, as well as from all four corners of England, to be baptised there.

Local churches did the heavy lifting at Bigbury. Calvary Chapel Plymouth preached the Gospel and served food, volunteers from Calvary Chapel Bristol led worship, and pastors from Ivybridge Baptist Church helped with the baptisms.

The requests did not stop after Devon. Turner records that Kraft's Instagram pages were flooded with young people asking to be baptised, especially from the north of England, where people could not make the journey down to Devon. Working with local ministers, Kraft organised the Bridlington gathering to answer them, with help from Calvary Chapel York under Pastor Dave.

Turner notes that in June 2026, fourteen churches around Bournemouth worked together to organise a mass baptism in the sea, at which 92 people were baptised that day. Bridlington, at around 550, dwarfed both earlier gatherings.

UK Revival Baptisms Ordinary People Coming to Faith

Kraft believes Bridlington may be the biggest baptism Britain has seen in recent years, and possibly in history, a claim reported by Australia's Prayer Network from the CBN News account. The Christian Institute quoted the Principal of Tyndale House, a biblical studies library in Cambridge, who said 550 baptisms at a single event could be a record in Britain.

Kraft's own summary, posted to social media, was plain and full of joy: "550 baptised at Bridlington. 170 at Bigbury-on-Sea. Bible sales soaring, and my inbox is absolutely RAMMED with people wanting to publicly declare their faith!"

What happened after the beach matters as much as what happened in the water. Kraft encouraged everyone baptised to join a local Bible-believing church if they were not already part of one. He told Turner that within days, church ministers throughout the north of England were messaging him to say that a steady stream of the people baptised were now attending their churches.

That follow-up is the test every revival story faces. A single day of baptisms can be filmed from a drone and shared around the world in hours, but a life of faith is built slowly, in weekly gatherings and local churches. Kraft stressed to Turner that baptism is only the beginning of a person's walk with Christ, a conviction shared by the congregation behind the Colchester church challenging a street-preaching ban.

Reports of restricted Bible access around the world, covered in the 2026 report on 500 million Christians, make a free baptism on an English beach look worth cherishing, while Pastor Chris's final Healing Streams edition of 2026 shared similar public testimonies of changed lives.

Kraft is not finished. "There's a real harvest out there," he said after Bridlington.

"Trust me, we're going around the country with this," he added. "This isn't stopping soon." The tour, as he describes it, will take the same simple invitation to other beaches, with no tickets and no booking.

Whether historians will call this a revival is a question Turner leaves open, and Kraft himself is cautious.

"I don't know whether we're witnessing the beginning of a revival in Britain," he told Turner. "Time will tell. But I do know that something is happening." The sea has closed over the day at Bridlington, and the next beach, and the next queue, are already being planned.
