Thousands of Australians Making Space for the Bible This November in Global Bible Month

Every 48 seconds, somewhere in Australia, another person installs a Bible app. That is not a marketing slogan, it is the pace YouVersion reports for Australian installs, and it sits behind a quieter fact: last year, Australians earned more badges for consistent Bible engagement during Global Bible Month than users in any other country.
Australians are being encouraged to join millions of people around the world in spending time in the Bible every day this November as part of Global Bible Month, Rhema reports, in an article supplied by Jersey Road. At the heart of the month is a simple invitation: 30 days in God's Word. The 30-Day Bible Challenge asks people to engage with Scripture every day throughout November, whether by opening a printed Bible at home, listening on the commute, or using a Bible app.
Global Bible Month 30-Day Bible Challenge in Australia
Nearly three million people around the world signed up for the challenge when it launched last year, Rhema reports. Australians were among its most enthusiastic participants. Australian YouVersion users earned more badges for consistent Bible engagement during Global Bible Month 2025 than users in any other country, a result that surprised even the people running the campaign.
YouVersion's own blog confirms the global shape of the month. It says people all over the world are coming together this November to celebrate God's Word during Global Bible Month, and invites readers to join the 30-Day Bible Challenge. Starting in November, anyone who engages with the Bible App for 30 days in a row earns the exclusive Global Bible Month Badge.
Australia now ranks 15th in the world for daily use of YouVersion's Family of Apps, Rhema reports, with 8.5 million Australian installs and another new install taking place on average every 48 seconds. Those numbers describe downloads, not devotion, and YouVersion Australia Director Dave Adamson is the first to say the difference matters.
Dave Adamson on Australians Opening the Bible App
Adamson says the figures point to something more significant than simply downloading an app, telling Rhema: "Every day, more Australians are choosing to open the Bible App, showing there is a real and sustained interest in Scripture. Last year, Australians led the world in consistent Bible engagement during Global Bible Month."
"Behind every app open is a person. People are opening the Bible for all sorts of reasons, sometimes through curiosity, sometimes because they're searching for answers, hope or meaning."
That sentence is the human spine of the whole campaign. Behind a badge count sits a commuter listening to a psalm on a train, a parent reading a verse before the house wakes, and a person who types "anxiety" into a search box late at night, while the app can count opens but cannot count the reasons, and Adamson does not pretend otherwise.
YouVersion's Australian search data offers a glimpse of those reasons, Rhema reports. Anxiety, hope and healing are among the most searched terms this year, and Psalm 91, a psalm centred on refuge, protection and trust in God, is the most-searched term in both Australia and worldwide, so people are searching for shelter, not arguments.
Australian Bible Plans for the 30-Day Challenge
Participants can choose from 31 locally created 30-day Bible plans in the Bible App, Rhema reports. Churches, ministries and Christian media organisations around Australia contributed the plans. They cover faith and discipleship, generosity, worship, anxiety, leadership, and sharing faith with others.
The familiar Australian voices include Christian Media and Arts Australia's Real Encouragement From The Bible, Hope Media's More Than Words 30-Day Bible Challenge, and The Salvation Army Australia's The Way: Discipleship. Vision Christian Media contributed The Treasury Project, and Youth Alive Australia contributed Walking With Jesus: 30 Days of Following in His Footsteps. Adamson himself contributed 30 Ancient Truths for Modern Life.
Adamson said the goal is not simply to get people to open the Bible for 30 days and stop, telling Rhema, "It's about helping people find a rhythm with Scripture that connects with their everyday life and hopefully continues well beyond November." A rhythm is a smaller promise than a transformation, and a more honest one, asking for a few minutes, repeated, until the habit starts to recieve the person back.
Readers can follow other Australian faith stories in 400 men gather on a mountain in Inverell as 11 are baptised at Mighty Men weekend, and nine adults welcomed into the Orthodox Church in Perth as Bishop Elpidios baptises eight. Stories of people finding faith are covered in Matt Barnes found faith at 45 after an old church invitation and Toluwanisings said leaving Islam for Christianity was his best decision.
November has 30 days, and the challenge asks for one opening a day. Whether the person who starts tonight is still opening the Bible on 1 December, when no badge is waiting, is the question the statistics cannot answer yet, and the one the whole month is quietly asking.
