Eventually, he got on his knees and prayed a simple prayer, sharing its words with his followers.

“Lord, I feel like I have unfinished business with music. You gave me this gift, and I want to give back to You. I don’t know how, and I don’t know where to start.”

“But if You give me the songs to sing, I’ll sing them,” he wrote, as quoted by Kemi Filani and QED News.

Victor Thompson Direct Message Three Weeks After Prayer

Three weeks later, Banky W wrote, a direct message arrived from Victor Thompson, the gospel singer known for the hit This Year. Thompson said he felt strongly they were supposed to do a song together. “Bro, I’m not sure if you’re up for it, but I feel very strongly that I’m supposed to do a song with you,” Thompson said, as quoted by Banky W.

“Me: Okay, Lord. Message received,” Banky W wrote. “That song became his brand new single, Super Power.”

For Banky W, the collaboration is far more than a feature on another singer’s record.

“For me, this is so much more than a collaboration. It’s an act of obedience. A reminder that God’s timing doesn’t have to make sense to us, and that a chapter we think is closed might just be getting rewritten,” he wrote, as quoted by Kemi Filani.

“I still don’t know how to promote music in this new era, but hey, it’s His song anyway,” he wrote. “My job is to trust and obey. The rest is up to Him.”

Banky W Pastor and Music Career After 2017 Songs About U

Banky W’s last full project came in 2017 with Songs About U, after which he stepped away while pursuing politics and other interests, QED News reports.
